Snail Trail This is a useful stitch for outlines, stems, etc. To work the stitch, secure the thread on the wrong side of the fabric with one or two small stitches then bring t through to the right side and hold it down firmly with the thumb and forefinger on the line to be followed. Insert needle at left side of thread, bring it up on the right side and pull it through the loop as illustrated. Pull the thread firmly to form a knot. Repeat this knot stitch every 1/8 inch along the thread for the required distance. This stitch will look best worked in a pearl cotton of similar thread. |

Hold the thread under the thumb and twist it round the point of the needle as illustrated. Insert the needle into the fabric as close as possible to the point where it came out. Continue to hold the thread under the thumb while pulling it through carefully. For a double French knot twist the thread around the needle two times. This stitch will look best if made with two strands of cotton or a heavier pearl cotton. |
| craft events | Bullion Stitch![]() ![]() ![]() Bring the thread through to the right side of the fabric and take a stitch of the length desired for the bullion stitch. Before pulling the needle through the fabric, wind the thread around the point of the needle as many times as needed to cover the length of the stitch. Pull the needle through holding the coils of thread with the thumb. Insert the needle into the fabric as close as possible to the straight stitch. Take the needle through to reverse side of fabric and fasten off. |
